Policy & Direction

Dynamic Controls is fully committed to eliminating environmentally hazardous substances as defined in the RoHS Directive from the Dynamic Controls range of controllers, and has established policies and dedicated resources to ensure compliance with all applicable EU Directives in advance of regulatory enforcement deadlines.

Implementation of RoHS requirements at Dynamic Controls has been addressed at two levels - Logistics and Technical. While the Logistics team focused on the supply chain, to ensure all component sourcing is RoHS compliant, the Technical team was tasked with end-to-end implementation of a RoHS complaint production process.

One aspect that required considerable resource, technical expertise, capital expenditure, and has widespread impact across the product life cycle, is the elimination of Lead (Pb) from the PCB assembly process. The technical challenge of switching from the traditional Tin-Lead solder (Sn-PB) to a Lead-Free solder assembly process requires a thorough understanding of the intermetallic structure at the joint and controls over all process parameters for SMT (Surface Mount Technology), PTH (Plated Through Hole) and hand soldering.

Dynamic Controls Lead-Free Symposium
To spearhead our 'lead-free' activities a 5-day Lead-Free Symposium was organized by Dynamic Controls and utilized the services of leading international Lead-Free expert, Bob Willis. Bob shared his vast knowledge and experience with invited guests from the NZ trade and industry, and the symposium was hailed as "an excellent proactive initiative" addressing key concerns and providing a wealth of invaluable cutting-edge information to attendees on the challenges of Lead-Free soldering processes.
