DSL Update

DSL Update

Dynamic Controls launched the DSL-105 head array a little under 2 years ago. We wanted to give you an update on how the market has adopted this unique device and how it has helped people.

As the only CE marked controller of its kind within the UK and Europe, Dynamic controls supported its launch by engaging in a free of charge UK wide customer training and accreditation program. In addition to technical training the program highlighted the products ability to provide freedom and mobility to those who would otherwise be without.

We have since taken this program into mainland Europe where the head control is now being used by people in Germany, France and the Netherlands to name just 3 countries.

We also support our customers by offering assistance when assessing people who could benefit from using the DSL-105 head array or any of the Dynamic Controls' controllers.

We are very proud of this training and assessment program and we would like to continue to offer this to all those who would like a refresher course on the product or support with an assessment.

Samantha Laws is a DSL head control user and here is her story

Samantha is one of Dynamic Controls first UK users of DSL, using her chair with the DSL on a daily basis, giving her the independence she needed and was unable to find through other solutions. Samantha is a very skilled and accomplished driver, supporting our belief that the use of proximity sensors, rather than mechanical switches provide a more natural and less tiring way to drive, and its ease of use always brings out a smile!!

"The Head Control is brilliant. It has changed my life and given me the freedom I wanted. I can go places without asking, which feels amazing" Samantha Laws, 20.

DSL_stealth2The head rest configurations are highly adjustable and have proved successful for people with conditions such as cerebral palsy, motor neurone disease and high level spinal cord lesion.  They have the potential to work equally well with other groups including those with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Multiple Sclerosis and Muscular Dystrophy.

As an ideal solution for those with poor muscle control, other benefits of the DSL-105 over driving with mechanical switches include:  The avoidance of ATNR and primitive reflex triggers; The user will also find they have no specific target to hit; and with correct programming the DSL-105 will give a smooth drive, with none of that jerkiness often associated with mechanical switches.

We believe the DSL truly benefits its users, and would again like to invite you to take us up on the offer of free of charge training /assessment support.
